THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE RAFFLE A SUCCESS

We held the raffle for Cody and Katelyn at the Happy Hour at Mister Day's last week. This was a big success thanks to all of you who purchased tix online and those who came to the Happy Hour.

We've reached our goal and we expect Cody and Katelyn both to have their surgeries very shortly. Please got to Cody's blog and PF page to get updates on Cody's and to Katelyn's PF page for updates on her. If I have time, I'll update here as well.

If you won a prize, you probably have been notified by now. Congratulations.

THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING CODY AND KATELYN THE BIGGEST WINNERS OF ALL!!!

How the Raffle Will Work

Hi All,I have some interesting news about the upcoming raffle! We've had some new items donated that will be used to create an exciting raffle game for those attending the raffle in person. Here is how it will now work:

For a mere $5, Homeward Trails will be raffling off great prizes, such as gift certificates to restaurants and local merchants. Homeward Trails will have additional prizes that are not part of the regular raffle, but can be selected for an additional donation (amounts will be indicated next to these prizes beforehand).
Here's an example of how it works: The first prize announced is a $50 gift certificate to Curry Auto, and a raffle number is drawn. If the person who bought this raffle ticket is not in attendance, the winning raffle ticket is taped to the Curry Auto Gift Certificate and set aside for that person.

The next prize announced is a gift basket, and a number is drawn. The person holding the winning ticket, Pat, is in attendance. Pat now gets the choice to take the gift basket, or for an additional donation, Pat can trade the gift basket for different item which is not part of the regular raffle prizes. Pat loves the gift basket and decides to keep it.

The third prize announced is a collection of coffees, and the number is drawn. Fred has the winning number. Fred really wants the $50 gift certificate for the sports bar (which is not part of the regular raffle prizes) . He sees for an additional donation of $20, he can trade up to the sports bar gift certificate. Fred trades in the collection of coffees, along with a $20 donation, and takes the gift certificate for the sports bar. Fred is very happy and the collection of coffees goes back into the pool of regular raffle prizes.

The raffle will continue in this manner, with the last regular raffle prize of the night being the Capitals tickets! We think this will make for a very exciting raffle, as well as raise even more donations for our very worthy dogs! If you want to be a part of the fun, please join us on December 3rd at Mister Days Sports Rock Cafe from 6-9pm. Thank you for your support and generosity!

How Do I Buy Raffle Tickets?

It's easy!

Just contact LoisLHT@yahoo.com
We have not yet picked the exact date for the drawing but it will be in early Dec. Someone unaffiliated with Cody or Katelyn or Homeward Trails will pick the numbers out of a hat and the winners will be listed on this blog and contacted by email and/or phone.

Raffles are $5 each and all money raised goes to Homeward Trails Rescue to help Cody and Katelyn.

Yes, it says "Donate," but you are buying a raffle ticket--or 10, depending on how much money you give. But if you don't email me, it's just a donation because I'll have no way of reaching back to you. If you have further questions, email me. THANK YOU!

Cody, a great dog with a bum hip

Cody is an adorable keeshond mix. He's about 3 years old and 40 lbs. Cody is a smart boy and he clearly had lived with a family before - he came from the shelter already housetrained and knowing basic commands like "sit" and some not so basic ones like "shake". He's had a tough time - sometime before he got to the shelter, he was injuried (possibly hit by a car?), then he was at a high kill shelter. Luckily Homeward Trails was able to rescue him and he got adopted but then his injured leg was discovered and he was returned to us and now is with a foster again.
Now Cody is waiting for us to raise the funds needed for the surgery to repair his broken leg - essentially, it will replace the portion that sits in his hip bone.

It's a good thing that Cody has such an engaging, easy going personality. He's rolled with the punches and seems to always have a "smile" on his face. Cody continues to look for his forever home. He is fantastic with cats and great with kids. He will do ok with other dogs if he has a good introduction. You can find out more about Cody by going to his blog which is listed on this one!

Katelyn, a nice girl with a luxating patella

Meet Katelyn. I am a beautiful 1 1/2 year old chocolate lab girl that really has had it a little tough. I was adopted as a puppy and returned a year and a half later - all because I have a luxating patella!

What is a luxating patella, you ask? My knee cap pops out of place every so often. My leg is a little tender, but I can get around no problem. The doc says I should have surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery is expensive so I'm hoping that nice folks will consider buying a raffle ticket so I can have my surgery soon.

I am possibly the sweetest girl you have ever met. I love other dogs and exercising (watch me play fetch in the video) but I really would love to love you! When you sit near me, I love to come by and get lots of petting. I love to give kisses, too! I'm hoping that someone will adopt me soon!
